FAQs
It’s my first time donating blood. What should I expect?
Firstly, we are proud of you for taking this step! Just one donation can help save up to three lives. Secondly, while the process may seem daunting for most people, once they donate blood, they find it quite easy and gratifying. Below are the steps you’ll go through;
Registration
You will sign up, show id and fill out a form.Medical Check-up
Checking of temperature, blood pressure, pulse and haemoglobinDonation
You'll be seated comfortably while 350/450ml of blood is drawn. The actual donation only takes 8-10 minutes.Refreshment & Recovery
After donating, you will be asked to stay seated and enjoy a snack and a drink for 10-15 minutes before resuming your day.Testing
Your blood is tested and sent to a patient in need.
If you have received a vaccination for COVID-19 within the prior 7 days, you will not be eligible for blood donation. For more eligibility criteria, visit the link below.
I don’t like needles!
You’re not alone: fear of needles certainly prevents some people from donating blood. But if you’re willing to spend a few minutes facing your fears (donating really can be that fast) you may find that the satisfaction you feel makes it worth it.
Are there fitness work-outs during the event?
No, we will be avoiding any strenuous activity due to the blood donation drive. The fitness workshops will be focussed more on busting myths and providing information on healthier living by a resource person who is a certified nutritionist and trainer.
How long will I have to wait if I’m there to donate blood?
Inclusive of all formalities, blood donation and rest time, anticipate a one hour duration.
What should I expect in the health/dental checkup?
During the health check-up, your vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, etc) and other biomarkers, such as body mass index, blood glucose levels, and fat percentage, will be evaluated. The check-up will also include a few pulmonary function tests to determine lung health.
For the dental check-up, a dentist will visually examine your teeth and provide a brief summary of your oral health.
Is there a registration cost?
